First of all, I want to thank each and every one of you that is reading this message. I’m sending this to you because at one point or anything, you were or are a big part in my or my family’s life. As many of you know there is a disease that really affects my family – Crohn’s disease. This is an auto-immune disease that affects your digestive tract causing severe pain, malnutrition, habitual diarrhea, weight loss, constant discomfort and an over all unhealthy body. There is no known cause or cure for this Irritable Bowel Disease – yet.

My dad started having problems as young as a pre-teen and much of his family has been diagnosed as well. Many of my cousins, aunt and uncles and even my grandpa have all experienced the pain of Crohn’s disease. Some even going through many surgeries as an effect of the disease. My mom started having problems when I was just a kid. I can remember days where she could do nothing because this disease had started to take over her life. Last February I was informed that my mom would be going in for a big surgery that would hopefully save her life but Crohn’s had already pushed my mom’s body to the breaking point and they didn’t know if she was going to make it though. Luckily she did but her life was and never will be “normal” because of Crohn’s. In 2009 I started having issues of my own and in October 2010 I too was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease.

On June 12th, 2011 I will be participating in Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada’s Heel-n-Wheel-Athon in Toronto to raise money for Irritable Bowel Disease research. I’m rallying together with some of my family to bring awareness to this issue that affects as many people each year as type two diabetes. This closet disease needs to be brought to the surface and I will do my part in that. I’m asking that if you have seen how this disease has affected my life or the life of anybody you know that you sponsor me for this event. It’s really simple, just go to www.ccfc.ca and under the Heel ‘n’ Wheel-athon event you can seach for a participant, that is where you search for me! (Two Amy Cracknell’s appear, they are both me so you can click either one of them) And that’s all there is too it!

Thank you in advance to all who donate and to those that don’t, thank you for reading this in it’s entirety and thank you for supporting my cause regardless. Let’s find a cure! There is no minimum donation. I know things are difficult for some, but any amount is so very much appreciated.

I walk for everybody affected by IBD but especially Barbara Chauvin, Michael Cracknell, Mark Cracknell, Holly Cracknell, Kevin Cracknell, Donald Cracknell, Roger Cracknell, Jayne Simpson, Evan Frede, the family of all these people and MYSELF!
