A dear friend of mine passed away today. Marty M. He was in his fifties. Had a few small physical issues, but not this. Not something that would cause him to be rushed to the hospital into CCU. It brings things a little closer to home than I would like. No, I don't think I am some immortal teenager, but it does bring that period at the end of the sentence a little closer.

I decided that I would skip December because the holidays are usually kinda of rough for me. Now that that is over I can pontificate again. But I am still kind of busy, so, I thought that I would let you guys know about a project that I am working on.
Three or four times a year we send volunteers in to the missions field. I give them a small Hi-8 or miniDV camcorder to take footage while they are out in the field. Unfortunately, they are usually don't know how to shoot good video. The footage I use in commercials, promos, and other projects. The problem is that I usually have to discard most of the footage as it is unusable.
So, I decided to host a series of courses/classes that will teach people how to use their camcorder. From there, we will progress to more advanced topics such as sound, lighting, graphics, and editing. The first class will be "How to Shoot Better Home Videos". Each class will be about three or four sessions at about two hours per session. Part of the class will also include homework and a class project. The classes will be limited to no more than ten students.
Stay tuned to That DAM Blog and the Dead Armadillo Media home page further info. I may also put the schedule up on the main White Dove site.
Good shooting.

[UPDATE] Well, as some of you may know. I may have to revise this blog. Because I am in a relationship now and I may have to change my tune. LOL!
You know, when I was in my twenties, I could call up ANY of my friends and say something like, "Hey wanna go check out that new movie?" One of maybe 5 would say yes. Usually I could get a quorum of at least 3. Most of my friends were women about the same age as myself.
Time moves on. I got saved. Started going to church. Found several good friends. Same scenario. I could call any number of them up and go do something. It could be a movie, going out to eat, going to somebody’s house to watch a movie. Now, the crowd was more mixed. I was in my late thirties.
Fast forward to today. I am in my early forties. I call up a friend. A friend that had no problems, just a few years ago, jumping in his or her car and meeting someplace, but nooo. Today, I hear things thru the phone like, "Honey, can I go over to Bro Mark's?" or "Honey, do you mind if I go to the show with Bro Mark?" or "Bro Mark wants to go get something to eat, do you wanna go? . . . Can I go?" What?!

What were you doing in September of 1986. I was in Tampa Florida working for Time Customer Service (a division of what is now Time-Warner). But for fun, I ran a Fidonet mail relay and BBS. BBSes. What is a BBS you may ask. Well, you must be younger than 25-30 if you have to ask. BBSes were the forerunner to the internet. FidoNet was the infrastructure and backbone for email. I'll spare you the long description and point you to the wiki.

Steve Jobs is a loose cannon. At least in the eyes of
his peers. They don't really like him. They can't seem to run
their company like good ole Steve does or at least the way that
they want to run it.
You see, Steve has a track record. A record of success. Let's
take a look over the past few years:
- G4 "Snowball" iMac
- G4 Titanium PowerBook Notebook
- G4 Aluminum PowerBook Notebook
- G4 Mac Mini
- G5 iMac
- G5 PowerMac Tower
- G5 Quad Core PowerMac Tower
- Intel Mac Mini
- Intel MacBook Pro Notebook
- Intel MacPro Tower Woodcrest Dual Core 64bit XEON

Steve Irwin Family In a bizarre, freak accident Steve "Crocodile Hunter" Irwin was killed when he accidentally strayed over a buried StingRay. "He came on top of the stingray and the stingray's barb went up and into his chest and put a hole into his heart," said Stainton, who was on board Irwin's boat at the time. If you don't know who Steve is read this over at Wikipedia. The here is the official statement from Animal Planet. Now, the tree huggin', baby killin', homo-lovin', liberals and other Demorats are coming out of the woodwork. It's not a matter of how they say it. It's the specific wording that they use. Wildlife documentary maker Ben Cropp, claims that a colleague who saw footage, Irwin had accidentally boxed the animal in. "It stopped and twisted and threw up its tail with the spike, and it caught him in the chest," said Cropp. "It's a defensive thing. It's like being stabbed with a dirty dagger." I was not there. I did not see the incident. However, by the end of the week you will be hearing stories about the poor Ray being boxed in by Irwin's invasive techniques. Afterall, do you remember a few years ago when he was feeding aligators in the Queensland Zoo holding his baby son Bob? To prove my point Wikipedia had to ban first-time posters because of vandalism to the Irwin entry. But in a style, typical of most liberals, they are and will be divided against Irwin and his type (Jeff Corwin comes to mind). Many want to discredit or discredit him for "interfearing" with nature and others want to congratulate him for his education efforts for conservation. The reason I can make these statements is that I know who these people are and how they think. I was one of them.
