End of Mambo

by RevMark

The core developers of MamboCMS decided to split from Mambo to fork the popular CMS into a new project called Joomla!. The explamation point after “Joomla” is part of the name. Not just a punctuation. With the uncertainty of Mambo’s open source status, the core developers believed that they should leave the project.

After careful consideration, investigation, and conversations with several of the core developers, I decided that the best course of action would be to move on with the group. I have always followed the philosophy of the core group and their vision for what is now Joomla!.

Over the next few months as Joomla! becomes more stable (notice that I said more stable and not just stable), I will be moving my various sites over.

The road map for Joomla! after 1.0.x is quite interesting. I can’t wait to see what is in-store.
