Ever wonder why they call it that, Oyx-MORONS? You know the old saying, “I’m from the government, and I’m here to help!”.
I wanted to give you a heads up about a post I am about to make very shortly on the outcome of my dealings with the IRS and the “so-called” Taxpayer Advocate Service”.
The TAS as it is known, makes a big deal about being on the side of the taxpayer and the fact that they are not run by the IRS and are funded by Congress.
I am not going to impune the workers there as I am sure that they are only doing what they are allowed to do. But, I will excoriate the Service and it’s lack of ability to “Help” the taxpayer.
So, I have been in contact with Senator David Vitter’s, offices in Washington DC and Baton Rouge. If you didn’t know already I am a resident of Louisiana. Hopefully, I can get some relief here.
In a nutshell, the IRS says that I haven’t file my taxes for 2005, 2006 and 2007. I have a document from them stating such. Fact is they claimed the same thing back in 2009 and 2010 when I filed my 2008 and 2009 returns, respectively. Folks, I did file them. In fact, the IRS held my refunds until I filed the returns. It’s interesting that they released my refund WITH INTEREST each time! Now they are doing it again.
In my quest for adjudication, I contacted the TAS to try to get this resolved for the last time. They said, yes, the IRS doesn’t have 2005, 2006 and 2007 returns. So I promptly faxed the 05 and 07 over to the local TAS office on March 21st and the 06 on April 6th. They lady there is very gracious (no names yet, because I am not done yet!)
Now they are telling me I am missing info on the 2005 return, they they still don’t have the 2007 return and that I still need to file the 2004 return. That is right, 2004 just up and disappeared!
UNBELIEVABLE!
This story is not over. When I have a check in my hand for MY money, I will finish this blog and it isn’t going to be pretty! I will probably either update this entry or post a new one.
